Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP)

REED Nepal is running “Secondary Education Improvement Project” (SEIP) to improve learning environment as well as to enhance the overall quality of 7 secondary schools of Solukhumbu applying model school approach. Various initiatives are in execution to ensure the result oriented quality having much focus on learning outcomes. To enable learning environment, supplementary and age-appropriate self-reading materials are in practice to enhance the reading habit and interests of students under its library program. A large autonomy in terms of resource allocation, planning and implementation of SEIP is given to ensure the minimum quality standards in terms of a learning environment and teaching-learning processes according to the needs and diversity of the schools to the local community. Likewise, performance-based  and accountable teacher development is also another main element in SEIP’s theory of change where head teachers are encouraged to undertake regular self and peer assessments to identify their preferred professional development based on their competencies and needs to ensure task on time in line with government directives and guidelines to establish a student-centered child friendly teaching culture and maintain high morale and motivation for teaching and learning among teachers and students.

Currently, REED Nepal is running following interventions under Secondary Education Improvement Project:

Capacity building of School Management.
Capacity building workshop of School management.
Assistance in monthly SMC/PTA meetings to ensure accountability and governance.
Support to perform Social Audit on regular basis.
Campaign for community engagement in school activities.
Parent counseling and home visiting.
Teachers and head teachers’ appraisal training
Training on teachers’ and head teachers’ performance appraisal.
Development of appraisal tools with benchmarks.
Library program
Library Management Training.
Development of a guideline for enhancing literacy and research in schools.
 Support on books and other sets up.
Monitoring and follow-up support.
