“Why ICT integration in Education?”
In this 21st century, information technology has made the world come closer day by day. After a few years, any gadget will be mandatory among children or aged people. These days, whenever someone visits their relatives or any restaurant, they first ask for WiFi. This represents that coming generation without internet will be unimaginable.

According to Cisco chief futurist Dave Evans “10 technologies that will change the world in the next 10 years,” it means 3D printers, sensor networks, virtual humans and other technologies under development now will drastically change our world in the decade to come.
As a training specialist’s (Mathematics) view: In coming days, definitely, the teaching-learning process will be different than today due to the ICT network. In our context, to be a good teacher, we have to know firstly, we have to know about technology, content, and pedagogy. “ICT” refers to Information and Communication Technology. “ICT in Education” means “Teaching and Learning with ICT”. Every subject content knowledge can be gained through ICT.
REED-Nepal is applying the new concept for the ICT in Education (ICT integration in education i.e. the key knowledge of intersention of technology, content and pedagogy) in Solukhumbu. The six days ICT in Education Teacher’s Training for secondary and basic level teacher held in Solukhumbu was so memorable for them that they demand more of those kind of trainings for education in the coming days for their professional development.
In Nepal, online moodle teahers’ training concept is also emerging. This type of three months teahers’ training course through online moodle was started by NCED(Nation Center for Education Development) as a piloting.
In the case of e-library concept, REED-Nepal started local server based intranet e-Library at Birendrodaya SS, Sotang and Janajagriti SS, Salleri for the first time at Solukhumbu in 2072. The uses of intranet in school has been implementing more these days and also the students are motivated towards ICT in Education. Birendroday secondary school’s teachers are using ICT in teaching learining process using audio, video in their classrooms. During the teaching learning process, teachers are regulating the class using Play, Pause, Play & Stop in the audio, video at the class.
In this changing world, a teacher should also go with the flow and be updated in “ICT intergration in Education”. “A good education can change anyone. A good teacher can change everything”, as per the saying we have to strive hard to become a good teacher. Let’s take a step towards the change!
